Osstem Implant will invite 1,500 dentists from 22 countries including China, Japan, Germany, Brazil and Australia to its headquarters in Seoul for large-scale clinical training this month, Korea's largest dental implant maker said on Monday.
Global implant clinical authorities including professors at Seoul National University's School of Dentistry will hold lectures and field practicums for the invited dentists.
The company plans to provide its digital equipment such as oral scanners, dental 3D printers and implant placement tools to help participants better understand digital dentistry, which improves the success rate, safety and efficiency of surgical procedures.
"Until the 1980s, Korean dentists paid high tuition fees for implant training in Europe, mainly in Germany. But this year, some 180 European dentists are coming to Korea to receive the training," said Cho In-ho, director of Osstem Implant Dental Research & Education Center.
"I am surprised with how much things have changed. This proves the excellence of Osstem Implant's technology and education curriculum."
Osstem Implant established Korea's first implant training center in 2001 and has been providing clinical training ever since. In 2006, it became the first Korean dental company to enter the U.S. market and provided clinical training every week to Korean dentists at its Los Angeles branch.
As of 2022, the company has provided online and in-person lectures at 30 permanent training centers of its overseas branches. About 110,000 dentists around the world have received its clinical training.
About 15 Thai dentists began receiving theoretical lectures at Osstem Implant's headquarters in Seoul last Saturday. They also plan to take part in field training at Yonsei University's College of Dentistry.
