By Kim Se-jeong

Kim Eil-chul, executive deputy secretary general of World Taekwondo, will be the guest lecturer at the 2019 Citizen Class for Peace in Busan, organized by the National Unification Advisory Council, Friday. The lecture will take place in Busan Dong-gu office, starting at 2 p.m.

Kim's lecture will be about the role of Taekwondo in forging peace on the Korean Peninsula. The Korean martial art has been an important bridge in inter-Korean relations.

As executive deputy secretary general, Kim was involved in organizing the 2017 World Taekwondo Championship in Muju and a joint Korean taekwondo exhibition during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games last year. Kim was also involved in a dialogue to merge World Taekwondo with its equivalent in North Korea.
