Actors Ok Taec-yeon and Kim Hye-yoon have taken the lead roles in tvN's new historical-comedy drama tentatively titled, "The Secret Royal Inspector and Jo Yi," the cable channel said Thursday.
배우 옥택연과 김혜윤이 tvN 새 사극 '어사와 조이'의 주연을 맡았다고 tvN이 목요일 밝혔다.
Set in the Joseon Kingdom (1392-1910), the soap opera revolves around a young gourmet named Ra Yi-eon ― played by Ok ― who unintentionally becomes a royal inspector and fights against corrupt politicians. Kim takes the role of Kim Jo-yi, a divorced lady who becomes Ra's work partner.
조선왕조를 배경으로 한 이 드라마는 의도치 않게 어사가 되어 부패한 정치인들과 싸우는 젊은 미식가인 라이언(옥택연)의 이야기를 다룬다. 배우 김혜윤은 극중 라이언의 업무 파트너가 되는 이혼녀 김조이 역을 맡는다.
"For our upcoming series, Ok and Kim, who have teamed up for the first time, will embark on an investigative adventure," the drama's production team said in a statement. "Please look forward to the story of the outliers of Joseon."
드라마 제작진은 성명을 통해 "옥택연과 김혜윤이 이번 작품을 통해 처음으로 호흡을 맞춰 통쾌한 팔도 감찰 수사를 펼칠 예정"이라며 "조선의 아웃사이더들이 펼칠 코믹하고 명랑한 활약에 관심과 애정 부탁드린다"고 밝혔다.
The 16-part series is directed by Yoo Jong-sun ― whose previous works include "Designated Survivor: 60 Days" (2019) and "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim" (2018) ― and penned by Lee Jae-yoon, a writer behind the success of the film, "Miss & Mrs. Cops" (2019).
이 16부작 드라마 '어사와 조이'는 '60일, 지정생존자', '김비서가 왜 그럴까'의 유종선 감독이 연출을 맡았고, 영화 '걸캅스'의 이재윤 작가가 대본을 썼다.
Ok debuted as a member of K-pop boy band 2PM in 2008 and began forging his acting career in 2010 with the KBS2 drama, "Cinderella's Stepsister" (2010). Kim is best known for her roles in popular TV series such as "SKY Castle" (2018) and "Extraordinary You" (2019).
옥택연은 2008년 K팝 보이그룹 2PM의 멤버로 데뷔해 2010년 KBS2 드라마 '신데렐라 언니'(2010)로 연기 경력을 쌓기 시작했다. 김혜윤은 '스카이캐슬'(2018)과 '어쩌다 발견한 하루'(2019) 등 인기 드라마로 이름을 알렸다.
"The Secret Royal Inspector and Jo Yi" will premiere later this year.
'어사와 조이'는 하반기에 방영된다.
