The Embassy of Pakistan in Seoul commemorated the country's national day, Wednesday, paying tribute to the country's founding fathers and highlighting the friendship between the country and Korea.
Ambassador of Pakistan to Korea Nabeel Munir noted that the occasion marks the adoption of the Pakistan Resolution in the city of Lahore on March 23, 1940.
"It was a landmark in the history of Muslim political consciousness in British India. And it formed the basis of a peaceful constitutional struggle, that led to the creation of our beloved homeland seven years later on Aug. 14, 1947," the ambassador said during a reception celebrating the occasion, Wednesday.
"And today, as we commemorate the day, we pay tribute to the struggle and the sacrifices of the leaders of the Pakistan Movement. But it is also a time of reflection and of renewing our resolve to continue working towards fulfilling the promise and the potential that this land of 220 million great people possesses."

He also outlined Pakistan's foreign policy principles, upholding justice and fair play in international relations and promoting international peace and prosperity.
As Korea and Pakistan celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year, Ambassador Munir highlighted the potential for further bilateral relations between the two countries.
"Bilateral relations between our two countries have grown from strength to strength across a range of areas, including political, socio-economic development, defense, economy and trade, human resource exchange and people-to-people contacts," he said.
"It also witnessed the first-ever port call of Pakistani naval ships to the Busan Port, and the doubling of Korean development assistance to Pakistan. We also highly appreciate the assistance provided by the government and the people of the Republic of Korea after the devastating floods in Pakistan last summer."
