More than 95 percent of service members aged under 30 have received their first doses of Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine after the government began its inoculation campaign for younger soldiers earlier this month, the defense ministry said Saturday.
정부가 이달 초 젊은 군인들을 위한 백신접종을 시작한 이후 30세 미만 군인의 95% 이상이 화이자 코로나바이러스 백신 1차 접종을 완료했다고 국방부가 토요일 밝혔다.
A total of 395,677 troops in their 20s, or 95.4 percent of the age group, had been vaccinated as of Friday, according to the ministry.
국방부에 따르면 금요일 현재 20대 군인의 95.4%인 39만5677명이 백신을 맞았다.
The defense ministry began its campaign in March and has been implementing it in phases. Soldiers aged 30 and older were given AstraZeneca's vaccine, and they will receive their second shots starting July.
국방부는 3월 백신접종을 시작했고 단계적으로 확대 시행해왔다. 30세 이상 군인은 아스트라제네카 백신을 맞았고 7월부터 2차 접종을 할 예정이다.
On Saturday, the ministry reported a new COVID-19 case, after an Army officer in the southwestern city of Namwon tested positive following the recent infection of one of his family members.
국방부는 최근 가족 중 한 명이 감염된 남원시의 한 육군 장교가 확진 판정을 받은 신규 확진 사례를 토요일 보고했다.
The latest case brought the total number of infections reported among the military population to 1,013.
이번 사건으로 군에서 보고된 코로나 감염자는 총 1,013명이다.
Nationwide, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) reported 668 new cases, including 611 local ones, raising the accumulated caseload to 154,457. (Yonhap)
13명 모두 현재 코로나19 확진자를 위해 지정된 시설에 격리되어 있는 상태다.
