FTX's collapse throws crypto market into chaos

The abrupt collapse of FTX, the world's third-largest crypto exchange, is affecting more than 10,000 retail and corporate investors, leading to major market disruptions.
세계에서 세 번째로 큰 가상화폐 거래소인 FTX의 갑작스러운 파산 신청이 개인 및 기업 투자자 만여 명에게 파장을 일으키며 대규모의 시장 혼란으로 이어지고 있다.

Ever since the company initiated its U.S. bankruptcy processes recently, major cryptocurrencies and FTX's FTT tokens have been on a sharp decline. Bitcoin was priced around $21,000 on Nov. 6, but plunged below $16,000 on Nov. 10 when fears of the firm's liquidity crisis started heightening in Korea and abroad. As of Sunday at 2 p.m., the world's leading cryptocurrency was being traded at $16,800, according to data from market tracker CoinMarketCap.
최근 FTX가 미국에 파산 신청을 하며 주요 가상화폐 및 FTX의 자체 코인 FTT 토큰 가격이 급격히 떨어지고 있다. 비트코인 가격은 이번 달 6일 2만1000달러였지만 기업의 유동성 사태에 대한 공포가 국내외에서 고조되며 10일에는 1만6000달러 이하로 급락했다. 가상자산 시황중계사이트인 코인마켓캡의 조사에 따르면 일요일 오후 2시 기준 세계의 선도적인 가상화폐는 1만6800달러에 거래되고 있었다.

Other cryptocurrencies also extended losses during the same period. Ethereum's price fell by around 25 percent over the past week due to the massive liquidity crisis, with FTX reporting liabilities of up to $50 billion.
다른 가상화폐 역시 같은 기간 손실이 확대되었다. 지난 주 거대한 유동성 사태에 설상가상으로 FTX가 회사 부채를 500억 달러로 보고하면서 이더리움의 가격은 약 25% 급락했다.

According to data from app market tracker Mobile Index, the number of daily average users in Korea for FTX's crypto trading app FTX Pro reached 3,147 as of Nov. 7. More than 10,000 Korea-based investors are feared to lose their invested capital following FTX's latest decision. The app saw 10,140 monthly active users based in Korea last month, according to data from the company.
앱 시장 추적기 모바일인덱스의 자료에 의하면 FTX의 가상화폐 거래앱 FTX 프로의 일일 평균 한국 이용자수는 7일 기준 3천147명에 도달했다. 한국 투자자 만 명 이상이 FTX의 최근 결정에 따라 투자한 자본을 잃을까 염려하고 있다. 이 기업의 자료에 의하면 앱에는 1만140명의 월별 활성 사용자들이 있다.

The price of FTT has also showed a sharp downward trajectory over the past week. It was traded at $22 a week earlier, but tumbled to less than $2 on Sunday, a drop of more than 90 percent.
FTT 가격 역시 지난 주에 급격한 하향 궤도를 보였다. FTT는 일주일 전 22달러에 거래되었는데 일요일에 2달러 미만으로 추락해 90% 이상의 추락률을 보여주었다.

This situation is reminiscent of the crypto fiasco regarding the Terra-Luna ecosystem in May. The value of the once-red-hot Luna token also lost its value close to the zero level after about a week once the Terra stablecoin lost investors' confidence when it started losing its indented $1 peg.
이번 사태는 5월 테라 루나 생태계 관련한 가상화폐 대실패와 닮아있다. 한때 뜨겁게 달아올랐던 루나 토큰의 가치 역시 테라 스테이블코인(가격변화가 없는 코인)이 1달러의 톱니모양 페그를 잃기 시작했을 때 투자자의 신뢰를 잃은 뒤 일주일 만에 거의 0까지 가치를 잃었다.

Korea's major cryptocurrency exchanges also issued a warning against the volatile market sentiment soon after the FTX debacle erupted last week.
한국의 주요 가상화폐 거래소들 역시 지난 주 FTX 붕괴가 발생하고 얼마 뒤 불안한 시장 정서에 대해 경고했다.

The Digital Asset eXchange Alliance (DAXA), a joint consultative body of the nation's top five crypto exchanges, advised local investors to pay extra attention before making investments.
국내 상위 5개 가상 화폐 거래소의 연합 자문기구인 디지털자산거래소 공동협의체(DAXA)는 국내 투자자들에게 투자 전 각별히 주의를 기울이라고 조언했다.

"The crypto market is widening volatility due to the problem at the overseas exchange and its affiliates," it said in a joint statement. "Investors should take extra precautions."
DAXA는 연합 성명에서 "가상화폐 시장은 해외 거래소 및 계열사에서의 문제 때문에 변동성을 확대하고 있다"며 "투자자들은 각별히 조심해야 한다"고 전했다.
