New Galaxy Fold, Flip likely to be unveiled on Aug. 10

Samsung Electronics will clash with Apple in the premium smartphone market in the second half of this year as the Galaxy maker is set to unveil new foldable phones ― the Z Fold 4 and the Z Flip 4 ― in August to challenge the new iPhone, according to industry officials and analysts, Tuesday.
화요일 업계 관계자들에 따르면 8월 삼성이 아이폰에 도전하기 위해 ‘갤럭시Z 폴드4'와 ‘갤럭시Z 플립'을 공개하면서 올 하반기 프리미엄 스마트폰 시장에서 애플과 격돌할 것으로 보인다.
As it has always done in previous years, industry watchers expect Samsung to introduce the two new foldable smartphones on Aug. 10, although the company didn't officially confirm it.
삼성전자의 공식적인 발표는 없었으나 업계 분석가들은 지난해와 마찬가지로 8월 10일 신상 폴더블 스마트폰을 소개할 것으로 예상하고 있다.
Samsung has held its unpacked event for new gadgets only online for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But Samsung is likely to hold an offline unpacked event for the new Z Flip and the Z Fold in New York next month.
삼성전자는 지난 2년간 코로나19 팬데믹으로 인해 갤럭시 공개 행사(언팩)를 온라인으로 기획했었다. 그러나 올해는 다음달 미국 뉴욕에서 오프라인으로 갤럭시Z플립·폴드 공개 행사를 치를 것으로 보인다.
The new iPhone could come in four variations with various colors. Among the variations, a few models, which will probably be the higher-priced ones, are presumed to be without a notch, the part located at the top of the screen that houses multiple sensors.
한편 신상 아이폰은 다양한 색상과 함께 4가지 모델로 출시될 전망이다. 여러 모델 중 화면 상단에 위치하며 여러 센서를 가진 ‘노치'가 없는 모델이 고가에 해당할 것으로 예측된다.
"Samsung will lower its sales target of the Galaxy A and the Galaxy S series and focus on selling new foldable phones to be released in August," Kim Ji-san, head of research at Kiwoom Securities, said. "Inflation has a more negative impact on the sales of low-priced phones than on high-priced ones," he added.
김지산 키움증권 연구원은 "삼성전자는 갤럭시 A와 S 시리즈의 판매 목표는 줄이는 반면 8월 출시 예정인 신상 폴더블 스마트폰에 집중할 것"이라고 전했다. 그는 "인플레이션은 고가보다 저가 스마트폰에 더 부정적인 영향을 끼치기 때문"이라고 덧붙였다.
Industry watchers believe that the Z Fold 4 and the Z Flip 4 will be more advanced compared to the previous models.
업계 관계자들은 Z폴드4와 Z플립4는 이전 모델에 비해 더 발전했을 것으로 보고 있다.
