Popular K-pop boy group Super Junior will promote trade fair, featuring a range of products made by Korea's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in Indonesia early next month, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) said Monday.
The state-run trade promotion agency has appointed Dong-hae and Eun-hyuk of unit duo Super Junior D&E as PR ambassadors for the upcoming Korea Brand & Entertainment Expo in Jakarta on Sept 4 and 5.
Earlier, actress Song Ji-hyo, who has appeared in multiple TV dramas and entertainment shows to build a strong fan base in the Southeast Asian nation, was also named as an ambassador to publicize the expo among Indonesian businesspeople and consumers.
"Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries have emerged as a promising expo market for Korean consumer products," a KOTRA official said. "The fair is expected to further bolster business and cultural exchanges between Korea and Indonesia."
The official said by combining K-pop and other entertainment, Korea can more effectively market domestic consumer goods in the region.
"We believe Super Junior D&E will play a crucial role in making the upcoming fair a success and improving the image of made-in-Korea products," he said.
Super Junior D&E has gained huge popularity among Indonesian fans in 2015 when the duo released its first album, "The Beat Goes On."
The duo will perform during the expo's opening ceremony, which will attract tens of thousands of K-pop fans in Indonesia and from nearby countries.
