Hana Bank agreed with the Korea Football Association (KFA) to extend its official sponsorship for the national football team for the next 10 years, the company announced on Wednesday.
The banking arm of Hana Financial Group has been the team's official sponsor since 1998, with the current deal having been signed in 2013.
The extended sponsorship will allow the bank to promote the company in Korea's international friendly matches and maintain its title sponsorship for the FA Cup governed by the K League.
"Football is more than a sport considering it has the power to bring together players, audience and the entire people of the country," Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo said during a signing ceremony for the sponsorship at Daejeon World Cup Stadium in Daejeon, Tuesday.
Joined by KFA President Chung Mong-gyu, the ceremony was held during halftime at the men's international friendly match against El Salvador.
"Hana Bank has always been with historic moments of Korean football, including last year's Qatar World Cup when the team made the round of 16," Ham said. "We'll continue to support the KFA and the national team to repeat the glory for the coming years."
During the ceremony, Hana Bank and the KFA unveiled a special uniform commemorating the newly extended sponsorship.
Hana Financial Group has been sponsoring multiple sports, such as golf and basketball, as part of its campaign to practice environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) principles.
The banking group owns Daejeon Citizen in K League 1.
